Super Bulldog Weekend

April 21, 2010

At Mississippi State University, in the Spring, there is an event called Super Bulldog Weekend. It starts with a baseball game on Friday afternoon/evening. Then, on Saturday morning, there are tailgaiting cooking contests, games for the kids, special camps for kids, and then there is a wonderful event…the football team (minus those high school recruits…NCAA rules and such get in the way of that) comes in and signs autographs for the fans.

Here they are waiting on us to get started….I’m sorry, no…we were waiting on them to get started!

This next one is a favorite.  J.C. Brignone is his name. He is from the Coast (Mississippi) and lost his home in Katrina. He transferred to a school in Georgia so he could stay on the college recruiting radar.  Then, in the spring of 2008, his father, his best friend, passed away from a massive heart attack. Now, he is a senior in college, a husband, and a father. This is the face of dedication and hard work…and love.

These guys are the kickers. They were cracking us up when we got to them. The boys had on their #24 jerseys (Anthony Dixon…look for him in the draft!) and De Pasquale make a crack wondering why they don’t sell the kicker’s numbers. We joked back and forth for a minute or two. It was very entertaining.

Then, we met the head football coach, Dan Mullen. Fabulous! One problem, I couldn’t get my camera to take a picture under the tent. *sigh* I should have gone ahead and used the flash and just edited it. Oh, well…I guess we’ll try again in the fall.

More to come later!
